Crestron’s one touch collaboration solution

Jul 31, 2019

Crestron were given the challenge of providing a tailored technology solution for Conrad Gargett, an Australian multi-disciplinary design practice - where team collaboration was key.

Modern Design

The new Conrad Gargett studio in the heart of Brisbane’s Queen Street caters to around 110 employees. The new facility is an essential part of the organisation’s modernisation plans; with an aim to equip its team with easier ways to collaborate, design and create.

Andrew Campbell, Architect at Conrad Gargett, said: “One of the biggest challenges, but also opportunities, for us moving to a new building was that set up was essentially from scratch. This allowed us to address the issues we had with technology in the previous office, and visualise

exactly what we wanted for the new.”

The firm’s new offices stretch across the 26th floor of a 1980s commercial building, with three meeting rooms for client presentations, a staff meeting space, a breakout area, and reception. For this advanced new facility, Conrad Gargett approached AV and IT specialist integrator, Corporate Initiatives, who recommended a tailored Crestron solution to meet the firm’s needs and best complement the space.

Addressing needs

“One of the biggest frustrations that we all experienced in our old building was setting up for meetings and presentations. It would never be a straightforward process, and a lot of the time, the quality of the presentation wouldn’t really be at the level that was expected for 2017,” said Andrew.

Part of the firm’s requirements was for the system automation and control solution to be easy to use. “At some point, everybody uses workplace technology. Most people are either giving a presentation, or preparing for a presentation on somebody else’s behalf.

Improve Collaboration

We needed the training and day-to-day use of the technology to be seamless and reliable.” Crestron’s one-touch technology allows the set up for meeting rooms to be simple, quick, and stress free – allowing less time for room set up, and more time devoted to the day-to-day.

The solution designed by Crestron needed to unlock the remote communication barriers the group was experiencing, with the business keen to better connect its interstate offices.

“One of our other aims was to improve collaboration with our studios in Townsville, Sydney, and Newcastle,” added Andrew. “It’s quite easy to lose touch with our colleagues in other regions, but we need to be able to collaborate on projects across all of our offices, so communication is really important in that respect. The new Crestron set up that we have now has certainly allowed that connection to improve.”

The Result

The whole project took five months, from initial meetings to installation. “The decision to move to the new building happened extremely quickly, so we needed to get things off the ground in the new office almost immediately. We needed consultations and installation to be as quick and smooth as possible, so it was great that Crestron were on-hand to help every step of the way,” said Andrew.

Seamless Operational Systems

With seamless operational systems, the Conrad Gargett team now have more time to devote to creating award winning designs, and working with their customers. Our new, modern office space is matched with modern technology that meets the needs of today’s workforces. “We’re now looking at the possibility of installing Crestron systems into our Sydney office too,” Andrew continued.
