Day 1 Blog: What the tech?

Aug 22, 2018

Day one of Integrate 2018 kicked off with Channel Nine’s gadget guy, Trevor Long asking, “What the Tech?” as he took the Today program’s viewers on a sneak preview of the show, positioning the event “at the bleeding edge of technology” - a fitting way to start off an event themed around the future of AV. And what a start it was.

The very first session to be held in the program, CEDIA’s Future Technology Trends, session was standing room only and included a surprise guest presentation by Silicon Valley Go-to-Guy, Rich Green – don’t worry if you missed it, you can also catch Rich again tomorrow in The Connected Conference (3pm, Level 5). The day also saw packed out sessions across the program, with highlight also including the AVIXA FlashTracks, Integrate LIVE and a sold out AV over IP panel led by rAVe’s Gary Kayye. Don’t forget there’s more education to come over the 2 days, you can find the full program here.

And after all that we needed a coffee and a rest, so luckily you can find both coffee and a bed on the Samsung Stand (B24) alongside their impressive selection of retail, hospitality and interactive (we mean gaming) displays and collaborative technology. The Samsung Flip board can be rotated to portrait and landscape and mirrors the image in different locations so remote teams can work together seamlessly. This technology shows how creative industries can fully utilise technology to collaborate internationally.

Not to be outdone, here are some more highlight products to be found on the Show Floor: PanoTek on Stand A29 is displaying a Tom Cruise “Minority Report” style display perfect for schools, retail and spy organisations. Called the ARIXE, it’s a fully interactive, large-format digital canvas solution, incorporating video wall processor, IR Multi-Touch sensor and cutting-edge software for building interactive experiences.

Sonitus Acoustics, on the Convoy Stand A50, are panels with a design difference and on show at the Convoy stand. If you’ve ever needed to remove acoustic panels glued to a wall, you’ll know the difference these magnet-backed beauties can make. Perfect for home cinemas or temporary acoustic solutions.

The Button by FIBARO, Stand H49, helps you create an eco-system where all your home devices are connected. With the press of “The Button” a tailored scene is triggered – it makes home automation so easy. The Button was featured on The Today Show with Trevor Long and CEDIA’s Giles Sutton, this morning.

If networking is what you are after, then today’s big event was the AVIXA Oceania Awards, taking place onsite, the awards celebrate individuals who have significantly contributed to the AV industry in the region, and included Volunteer of the Year, Young AV Professional of the year and a lifetime recognition award. The full list of winners is below:
