Professional recognition for security technicians
Launched in 2012, the Security Technician Certification (STC) program is an ASIAL initiative that provides access to a professional recognition program tailored to meet the needs of security technicians. The program is designed to provide a career pathway for security technicians.
Market leaders, including Chubb Electronic Security have made a clear commitment to upskill their technicians by signing up to the STC program.
The STC program consists of a mixture of online training, face-to-face theory and practical assessments. The program is provided by Integracom Management Group Pty Ltd, a nationally recognised Registered Training Organisation.
The topics covered include alarms, access control and CCTV, along with IP networks and optical fibre.
Designed to provide a career pathway for security technicians, the program is also a proactive initiative to attract and retain skilled workers capable of meeting the future needs of the security industry.
The program consists of 3 levels of recognition incorporating the following topics:
Certified Security Technician
- Cabling installation practices
- Intruder alarm installation
- CCTV fundamentals
- Telecommunication transmission pathways
Advanced Security Technician
- IP Networks
- CCTV advanced
- Access control
- Optical Fibre
- Structured Cabling
Master Security Technician
- Completion of online assessment
- Evidence of a minimum of 10+ year’s practical security experience
- Evidence of currency of vendor/manufacturer training/ certification
- Membership of a recognised security industry body
- Current individual security licence
Locations
Training and assessment centres for the STC program are located in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
